Writing Expressions for statements

Writing Expressions for given statements is very important for solving word problems in Algebra.

Writing Expressions for single statements

Example : 2 more than a number p

2 + p is the expression

Example : 5 less than a number x

x - 5 is the expression

Example : 9 times a number a

9 * a is the expression

Example : 23 divided by a number e

23 / e is the expression

Example : difference of a number y and 2

y - 2 is the expression

Example : product of 8 and a number p

8 * p is the expression

Example : One third of a number x

(1/3 )* x = x / 3 is the expression
